It's that glorious time of year again; the time for bright sunny days, hikes through the woods, and catching fireflies on warm, balmy evenings. It is also the time for mosquitoes to come out and ruin your fun time, leaving you with itchy bumps after they have their meal.  Mosquitoes love blood and, in particular, they are attracted to movement, Diffuser Necklace - Essential Oil Diffuser Aromatherapy Pendant, Necklace Jewlery Locket Antique Silver Or Bronze 24" Chain And 5 Aroma Padsdark colors, moisture and carbon dioxide. As long as you’re plan to stay completely still, wear white, don’t sweat or breathe, mosquitoes are not likely to have a bite, but how could that be humanly possible?
The only way to keep those buggers away is by shielding your body; to be so resistible that they DON'T want to take a bite. You could always spray yourself down with greasy, chemical-laden insect repellents full of DEET but, there are healthier and safer ways to repel moquitoes naturally, and protect yourself from being bitten this summer. One of the best alternatives is using essential oils.

Naturally Repel Mosquitoes

Essential oils are extracted from the leaves, stems and roots of various plants and have a multitude of practical and medicinal uses. Several oils are natural insect repellants because they give off an odor that bugs find very unappealing.  At the top of the list is Lemon Eucalyptus oil gives off a very powerful, fresh, woody-citrus scent. Another excellent option would be using Citronella oil gives off a classic, lighter lemon scent (think tiki torch).

Clove oil is a very spicy aromatic reminiscent of Christmas baking that can act as a cloak while you are out enjoying the sun.  The next oils on the list are Basil oil and Thyme oil; both herbs not only repel mosquitoes naturally, they are useful for repelling common garden pests, as well as making spaghetti taste better! Lavender oil is a good multi-purpose oil; it can help keep your skin moisturized as it repels mosquitoes. Geranium oil will keep them at bay too all the while its enticing scent will have you smelling like roses.

Since these oils will cause irritation if they come into direct contact with skin, the safest way to use them is by diluting it. You can blend it with carrier oils or use a diffuser, such as the Baltic Essentials Oil Diffuser Pendant.  Each pendant comes with an assortment of felt pads.  All you have to do is put a few drops of essential oil on the pad and place it inside the pendant for a go-anywhere insect repellent that looks – and smells – better than any aerosol.  The back of the pendant lays flat against the skin, so your body heat warms the oil inside for long-lasting protection.

The necklace may be worn for as long as you need it when you are outside, and the application will last a long time. The pendent pads come in five colors that you can choose from (pink, red, white, purple, and blue). Whether you’re outside on a picnic or enjoying a day at the lake, strolling through the woods or stargazing in the middle of the night, has exactly what you need to keep your days free from those pesky, bothersome mosquitoes during the summer months while you look stylish.
